Expanded in 2002, the Mobile Museum of Art in beautiful Langan Park is the largest art museum along the Gulf Coast from New Orleans to Tampa. The 95,000 square foot facility is the setting for a permanent collection of over 10,000 works of art spanning more than two thousand years of culture, as well as traveling exhibitions and regional art exhibits. The Mobile Museum of Art is a public-private partnership comprised of city, county and private support (through its 501(c)3 not-for-profit corporation). MMofA is the City of Mobile’s art museum.
The mission of the Mobile Museum of Art is to provide a place where people enrich their lives through interaction with the visual arts in thought-provoking and creative ways that nourish and delight the mind and spirit. For the fundamental purpose of education, the Museum collects, conserves, exhibits, interprets and researches art.
MMofA now has reduced admission while the 2nd floor galleries are closed for construction (re opening Fall 2014). We are also renovating the lobby for our 50th anniversary celebration in November: our apologies for any inconvenience this causes you during your visit to the museum.
