Painting Basics with Josh Green @ Mobile Museum of Art

The students will learn basic painting techniques through the practice of ‘color-value studies’. A color-value study is a painting exercise where the impression of light is accurately recorded. The instructor will guide the student in examining a subject of a painting as a visual field. Accuracy of proportions and rendering is not the goal of this course and will be ignored. The student will learn about recording accurate values and color.

The secondary objective of the course is to show the student how to have control over the palette. We will be using a limited amount of paints. This will allow the students to learn each color well and how to properly mix it. Students will receive a list of supplies upon registration.
