Once Upon a Paintbrush: Getting Started as an Illustrator A Fairytale Workshop for Adults
Saturday, October 30, 1 p.m. – 5 p.m.
This lively, informative workshop for aspiring authors and illustrators or anyone who loves children’s books covers current trends in the children’s book market, creative layout and character design. Learn how to use images to move a story forward, as well as receive practical advice about submission packages, copyright protection, publishing contracts and illustration portfolios. This workshop is interactive, with lots of questions and discussion. Plan on taking home a generous amount of illustrated resource materials, as well.
Instructor Val Webb is the well-known illustrator of eleven children’s books, including two Cabbage Patch Kids titles for Hasbro toys. Her whimsical artwork also appears frequently in business publications, greeting cards and product labeling. In addition to illustration, Val teaches workshops in botanical drawing and handmade tile. Her studio is in Mobile.
Make plans to take advantage of this opportunity to reinforce existing knowledge or to learn how to get started as an illustrator. Lecture included with regular admission; Museum members free. Reservations required; space is limited. To register contact Val Webb at studio@valwebb.com.
