There’s more to portrait photography than pointing a camera and pushing a button. Alabama photographer and professor Celestia Morgan will lead this workshop about how to light and compose thoughtful and engaging portraits. The class will focus on discussion and practice of proper photographic techniques as well as the conceptual aspects of photography that Morgan uses in her own work. This class is held in conjunction with the MMofA exhibitions Contemporary Alabama Photography, which features the work of Celestia Morgan, and Posing Beauty in African American Culture. Participants will need their own digital SLR camera for this course. A laptop or tablet is helpful for editing if available.
Friday, January 12, 1 – 6 p.m.
