Beginning Oil Painting – Mastering the Basics with Missy Patrick

This six-week course will include the basic process of approaching oil painting, including surfaces to paint on, grounds, and mediums. Students will learn the potential of a limited palette and how to create their desired color.

We will start in black and white, and then build up to a full-color palette for the last two paintings. Some supplies will be provided.

Adult Art Camp

Learn how you can use a basic household item to create your own unique designs with this easy screen printing technique. Make shirts, tote bags, or posters. Once you learn how the possibilities are endless!

Turn something old into something new, in this class where you will paint an antique window. Anne Carr will lead the class in creating interesting designs for a one-of-a-kind piece you’ll treasure.

Create beautiful, unique designs with the hot wax batik technique. Instructor Lana Hall will discuss composition and color design. Participants will leave with a finished silk painting to hang or wear as a scarf.


Beginning Throwing on the Pottery Wheel with Angie King

Try something you’ve always wanted to do and learn to throw clay on the pottery wheel! This six-week class is for brand-new students with no previous experience. Students learn the basics of how to center, throw, and glaze clay, resulting in unique functional pieces such as bowls, cups, and vases. Impress friends and family with your new skills!

Creative Night For Two: Foraged to Fine Art – Painting with Natural Pigments

From dirt to DANG – get creative with us through exploring making and using natural pigments in a variety of techniques to create an original artwork out of earth-based materials such as soil, plants, flowers, foods and spices.

Join us for guided instruction on choosing materials, preparing them, mixing your paints, and applying them in a creative way for a night of planet friendly painting.  

Creative Night for Two: Wheel Throwing

Bring a friend, partner, parent, or neighbor, and create something on the pottery wheel during one (or more) of our single-night sessions. No experience is necessary; just come with a friend and an open mind. Everyone will get a chance to make 2 – 3 pieces on the wheel. They will be glazed for you, and you will pick up your finished pieces at a later date.

Intermediate Throwing on the Pottery Wheel

This six-week course is for potters who want to enhance their wheel-throwing skills. A variety of topics will be covered.

This class for intermediate wheel-throwing students will focus on throwing more complex and larger forms. The instructor will present a different demonstrated technique each week. Students are free to work at their own pace and on self-guided projects.


Fantastic Beast Vases in Clay with Lana Hall

This class offers fun and challenging tasks to improve your hand-building skills as well as your overall well-being.

The goal is to design, build, and decorate an assigned animal, using different hand-building techniques. The objective is to learn to build 3-D patterns in stages while maintaining support and following the design.

Open Clay Studio

Open Clay Studio is available for Mobile Museum of Art members only.

$25 per month + $15 per session attended

Enjoy extra time to work on your own projects during this uninstructed Open Studio time. Clay, glazes, and pottery wheels will be available.
