Pre-register or walk in to get creative with MMofA’s Make & Take. In this class, we will explore a variety of art materials, processes, and techniques inspired by artists currently on view. Join us in the studio anytime between 1 to 3 p.m. for an opportunity to explore art materials and get creative with MMofA.

Create your own winter wonderland painting using a variety of watercolor painting techniques. Explore masking, glazing and resist watercolor techniques while we create our winter landscape painting.

This class is for families to create together. Each month will feature a different art medium with a project tied to the MMofA collection. Parents are encouraged to stay and create with their families. Suitable for homeschool families.


Thursday, October 26, 2023: Doll Making with Hannah 

Join us in exploring the art of paper doll making with artist Hannah Edge as she guides the whole family in constructing and designing their own unique moveable paper doll.


Thursday, November 16, 2023: Dusti Bongé Sunflower Abstract Paintings (Cancelled due to unforeseen circumstances)

Learn the basics of abstract painting tricks to blend like Bongé!  We will use acrylic paints and roofing paper to create unique abstract sunflower paintings inspired by the artwork of Biloxi native and first Abstract Expressionist, Dusti Bongé. 


Thursday, December 21, 2023: Faux Stained “Glass”

Artists will use tissue and construction paper to create an original artwork inspired by traditional stained glass. Explore light, color, and line through this art activity designed for the whole family.


Thursday, January 25, 2024: Vintage Collage Cardmaking

Get creative by exploring elements of collage through scrap papers, transfers, and stamps to create a unique card design in time for Valentine’s.


Thursday, February 22, 2024: Vintage Baseball Card Mixed Media

Create a unique vintage baseball card-themed artwork featuring your favorite player or yourself! Send us or bring in a printed photo of your favorite player or yourself to use in creating a vintage baseball card of your own.


Thursday, March 28, 2024: Spring Painted Eggs

Decorating eggs has been a part of various cultures dating back further than the 5th century! People believed there was great power embodied in the egg, so they decorated it in the spring to celebrate the renewal of nature and life. Explore geometric designs and symbols.

This class was originally promoted as Homeschool Art.

Toddler Time

Join us for single sessions of sensory-based art projects designed especially for toddlers and preschool children. Toddler time is open to children ages 1 through 5.

Young artists will use a variety of materials to manipulate and explore texture, shape and form by creating two art projects with clay and model magic.  


Thursday, January 11, 2024: Kings and Queens of Mardi Gras

Bring your little one to the studio to explore  their creativity  in making their own Mardi Gras crown and mask! Using a variety of colorful tissue papers on simple materials we’ll be making Mardi Gras crowns and masks for littles to wear during the season. We’ll be exploring fine motor development using stencils and sensory play with a variety of textured craft materials.


Thursday, February 8, 2024: Heart Studio: Lacing Hearts and Valentines Postcards

Littles ages 16 month to 4 years will explore hearts in art this week through painting, lacing and pasting to create original artwork inspired by our love of art.


Thursday, March, 14, 2024: Shamrock Suncatcher and Rainbow Plushie

Explore light and color with this week’s activity using tissue paper, felt and glue – little artists will create a suncatcher and a no sew rainbow stuffed plushie.


Thursday, April 11, 2024: Painted Leaf Mobiles & Upcycled Abstracts

This week we explore using natural materials and recycling with two art projects. With gathered leaves and sticks explore paints and nature to create a painted leaf mobile, then we will use a variety of recycled craft materials in creating a unique abstract art made from recycled materials.


Thursday, May 9, 2024: Mothers Day Picasso Flowers on Canvas

Littles will experiment with tracing, painting and stamping to create an artwork inspired by Picasso’s Bouquet of Peace.
