Have you ever wanted to learn to weave a basket? Basketry is an ancient craft that still has not been mechanized. It is something that can only be made with human hands. This class will be an introduction to basic cane reed basketry. Students will learn the process of how to measure and cut reed for a basic woven basket. Dying reed will be discussed, but dyed reed will be available for use in the class. Students will leave with one complete woven basket and a second basket in progress to finish on their own independently. Handles and other embellishments will be demonstrated to allow students to make their own unique basket form.

Information and resources will be shared along with a hands-on activity.
