Artist and professor Scott Stephens will lead this workshop on the traditional printmaking method of copperplate drypoint. Participants will learn to use a stylus to incise an image into the copper and then print the image onto paper using a printing press. Participants will be able to create, proof and modify an image and then print a small edition of finished work. Participants should bring a sketchbook with image ideas and materials (pencils, erasers, fine pilot point pen, etc,) for preliminary sketches in a 4×5 to 5×7 inch format. Copperplate, fine paper, and oil based ink will be provided, as well as the specialized tools and materials to incise and print the plates.
