$5 members per child per session | $10 non-members per child per session

This class is for families to create together. Each month will feature a different art medium with a project tied to the MMofA collection. Parents are encouraged to stay and create with their families. Suitable for homeschool families.

Thursday, August 31, 2023: Exploring Homemade Paints inspired by Jimmy Lee Sudduth   

This family-style art workshop explores the art and processes of Alabama artist Jimmy Lee Sudduth. We will be making our own paints using a variety of natural materials including fruit juices, spices, and more. We’ll mix the colors and paint with our hands, just like Sudduth.   

Thursday, September 28, 2023: Calder Mobiles and Stabiles 

This family-style art workshop explores a variety of 3 dimensional building materials like wire, foam, and wood. Famous for his mobiles and stabiles, artists will create their own Mobile or Stabile inspired by Calder sing a variety of 3D building materials like wire, wood and more.

Thursday, October 26, 2023: Mask Making with Hannah 

Join us in exploring the art of paper doll making with artist Hannah Edge as she guides the whole family in construction, and design of their own unique moveable paper doll.

Thursday, November 30, 2023: Dusti Bongé Sunflower Abstract Paintings 

Learn basics of abstract painting tricks to blend like Bongé!  We will be using acrylic paints and roofing paper to create unique abstract sunflower paintings inspired by the artwork of Biloxi native and first Abstract Expressionist, Dusti Bongé.
