Figuratively Speaking: Drawing and Painting the Human Form
$225 for Members, $255 for Non-Members
Ages 15+
July 27 – 30, 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.
Taught by Ron Thomson
This workshop will focus on providing the tools and knowledge essential to drawing and painting from a live model. The human body is incredibly complex, but form follows function and this class will provide insight that simplifies that complexity. The start of the workshop will focused on drawing, some basic anatomy, proportion and rhythmic balance of weight, and muscle groups will be explored as a means of empowering observational skills. The remaining days will focus on painting sessions consisting of 1 long pose each session. Achieving accurate proportions, balance of form and the use of a limited palette of colors to create beautiful skin tones and expressive paintings is the goal of this class. Students may choose to paint in oils or acrylics. This workshop is appropriate for beginners to advanced artists.
Please bring a sack lunch. We will eat together and continue our workshop discussions.
