Join Landscape artist Sharon Martin for a 2 day plein air workshop in the beautiful surroundings of the Mobile Museum of Art and Botanical Gardens. She’ll begin the day with short demos and lectures throughout on her process to simplify a complex landscape scene into beautiful harmonious color. She’ll discuss value, color temperature and how to build a sound composition. Sharon will spend the remainder of time working one on one with each artist as they develop their own style. Some painting experience recommended. Demos will be in oils using a primary palette; pastels and slow drying acrylics welcome. Supply list provided upon registration.

About the Artist

A romantic at heart, with a passion for new experiences, Sharon dreams and plans where she’ll go next. You’ll find her studying language, reading a classic historical novel, and planning her route. Painting unreal places on canvas is another way to capture and bring home memories.

As a plein air artist and photographer, she has traveled to Italy, England, Scotland, Germany, Austria, Ireland and Wales. Closer to home she paints seascapes, marshes, fields and architecture. She paints in plein air to increase her understanding of light on form as many of the great landscape artists of the past have done.

She has studied with renowned artists Dee Beard Dean, Bill Davidson, Damon Carter, Millie Gosch, and Chris Di Domizio. A versatile artist, she enjoys working in oil, pastels, and acrylics, and paints mainly in oils.

A gifted instructor, she relishes passing on that passion to her students which have included high school and adults. Past instruction has included The Timothy Ministry of First Baptist Church and Masters Academy of Fine Art Portfolio program, Woodstock, Ga. Currently she teaches landscape oil painting courses at the Eastern Shore Art Center in Fairhope, Ala, and is available for private instruction.
