Dr. Laura Moore of the University of South Alabama is joining us to explore the rich and complex musical lineage of Janet Cardiff’s critically acclaimed installation Forty-Part Motet. Dr. Laura Moore is the Director of Choral Activities at the University of South Alabama, where she directs the Concert Choir and Chorale. She also teaches music history and instrumental and choral conducting. In this interactive talk we will delve into 16th century devotional music, choral practice, and the life and works of Thomas Tallis; the composer that inspired the contemporary sound sculpture, Forty-Part Motet.
