SUMMARY:Handle With Care Members-Only Opening Reception
DESCRIPTION:April 9 | 6 – 8pm  \nJoin us for the opening reception of the highly anticipated exhibition\, Handle With Care. In a partnership exhibition originated by Alabama Contemporary Art Center for Mobile Museum of Art\, artists Calder Kamin (Austin\, TX) and Jacob Reptile (New Orleans\, LA) transform trash into soft and complex sculptures to create a new kind of environment. Through purposeful reuse of fabrics\, plastics\, and second-hand materials\, these artists create new alien lifeforms\, flora\, and fauna to populate an imagined landscape.

SUMMARY:Hatitude Tea Party
DESCRIPTION:Saturday\, May 2\, 2026 |  2 – 4 pm\n$10: MMoA Members – $15: Not-Yet Members \nStep into an afternoon of style and tradition at Mobile Museum of Art for the Hatitude Tea Party. Inspired by the special exhibition Timeless Hats\, this gathering honors self-taught Mobile milliner Susie Mae Pugh-Williams (1949 – 2020). Her handcrafted hats\, wraps\, and fascinators are more than accessories — they are “crowns” that embody a rich heritage of artistry and resilience. \nEnjoy tea\, light refreshments\, and the graceful sounds of a live harpist. You’ll have time to explore the exhibition and reflect on Mrs. Williams’ remarkable work before visiting our curated bloom bar to assemble a custom bouquet to take home. Dr. Irma McClaurin will serve as MC\, providing insight into the deep cultural significance of the traditions being honored. \nWe invite you to arrive in your most expressive headwear to fully embody your own “Hatitude.” Prizes will be awarded for Best Hats\, celebrating creativity\, elegance\, and individuality. \n
