Have you ever wanted to weave your own basket for Easter? Spring is a great time to learn this ancient craft that can only be accomplished by human hands. This class will be an introduction to basic cane reed basketry.
Participants will learn the basics of dying with a plant-based indigo vat, along with various approaches to Japanese shibori resist dyeing, with a focus on Itajime (shape resist) and Kumo (twist resist). In this new glass fusing workshop, we will expand on the basics by introducing texture and pattern into the mix. We will use stencils and colored glass powders and layer the glass to create depth and richness in your project.
