MMoA Receives Grant from the Community Foundation of South Alabama

A grant from the Community Foundation of South Alabama is helping Mobile Museum of Art (MMoA) bring the power of art to underserved K-12 students. This partnership supports the continuation of MMoA’s Title I School Field Trip Program and adds a new Virtual School Tour option that expands the reach and accessibility of our art education programming. Both programs are designed to ignite classroom learning through low-cost and age-appropriate field trips that integrate core curriculum and are accompanied by hands-on art activities.
Support from the Community Foundation of South Alabama has allowed MMoA to increase the number of schools and students served in our field trip program. Grants funds are also be utilized to support a new partnership with the Mobile Parks and Recreation Department. Launching on March 19, 2026, “Bridging Generations through Art” will be offered outside of traditional school hours through select community centers bringing K-8 students and their families to the Museum for tours and art activities as part of the Aminah Robinson: Journeys Home exhibition.
Kaitlyn Amanor, Curator of Art Education at MMoA affirmed that, “The Community Foundation of South Alabama has been crucial to our ability to offer intentional arts education opportunities both in school and after school to students in our community, and truly makes our mission to bring people together and inspire creativity through the power of art possible. We value the whole student and know that the arts create opportunities to work together, reflect on ourselves and the world around us, and provide a necessary outlet for self- introspection and expression in a way that benefits the student and the surrounding community”
