Get to know our new Team member, and if you see them roaming the Museum, feel free to say hi.
James Grimes
James is a proud native of Mobile, Alabama, a city rich in culture, tradition, and the historic celebration of Mardi Gras. Growing up in Mobile helped shape his appreciation for community service, leadership, and civic involvement—values that continue to guide both his professional and personal life.
James is a graduate of Murphy High School, one of Mobile’s most historic and respected institutions. During his time there, he developed a strong foundation in academics and leadership that would later inspire his pursuit of higher education.
Following high school, James continued his educational journey at The University of Mobile College, where he earned his Bachelor’s degree. His time at the University of Mobile further strengthened his commitment to service, scholarship, and community engagement. Determined to expand his leadership and administrative knowledge, he later went on to obtain a Master of Public Administration (MPA) from Strayer University, equipping him with the skills necessary to lead, manage, and advocate effectively within organizations and communities.
James is also a dedicated member of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Incorporated, through the Zeta Upsilon Chapter. As a Sigma man, he actively embodies the fraternity’s guiding principles of Brotherhood, Scholarship, and Service. Through his involvement, he contributes to initiatives that support mentorship, education, and community uplift throughout the Mobile area.
