Artists have been creating still life art works since ancient times, a still life is a composition of things arranged by the artist for a variety of reasons from creating a pleasing combination of shapes, colors, and textures to more complex use of symbolism to narrate themes such as life and growth, or time and mortality. Bring in your own small items of significance or choose from a variety of items such as shells, flowers, and produce provided in class to curate your own still life. You will be guided through the art of still life painting from setting up a symbolic still life, arranging an interesting composition, to application and processes of acrylic painting. No previous art experience required!
