Museum Hiring Facilities Technician

The Mobile Museum of Art is hiring a full-time Museum Facilities Technician. This position is responsible for the maintenance and repair of museum facilities and equipment including the operations and repair of heating, ventilation, air conditioning, refrigeration, mechanical and electrical systems.

This person will be responsible for performing various technical and mechanical maintenance and repair tasks on critical climate control, electrical and other systems for museum facilities, as well as operating, maintaining and repairing various types of equipment. Work is performed under the general direction of the museum Operations Manager or Director in accordance with established procedures. This position may require irregular hours including nights and weekends, and they must be comfortable with interaction with the public, particularly children and young people

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION, DUTIES AND REQUIREMENTS

Minimum of an associate’s degree or trade school certification in facilities maintenance or related field, and a minimum of three years experience in facilities maintenance or related field; or a combination of education and experience equivalent to these requirements. An ideal candidate will: check and maintain critical museum facility systems including heating, ventilation, air conditioning (HVAC), electrical, plumbing and mechanical systems; perform preventive and scheduled maintenance tasks and complete repairs as necessary; have a good knowledge of basic math as it relates to the position; have the ability to operate construction and mechanical equipment; work with attention to detail and with little or no supervision as well as the ability to problem solve; and other tasks as required.
