Nearly 10,000 students in Mobile County public schools will benefit from a $25,000 PNC Foundation grant to support arts education programs at the Mobile Museum of Art.
The PNC Foundation, which receives its principal funding from The PNC Financial Services Group (NYSE: PNC), awarded the Museum a $25,000 grant to hire part-time staff and to purchase art supplies for the organization’s art education program. The program will serve 9,900 students from ages 4 to 18, most from low- and moderate-income households.
“PNC’s support of the Mobile Museum of Art’s educational programs reflects our commitment to expanding access to quality, hands-on arts instruction in Mobile’s underserved communities,” said Cedric Hatcher, PNC Gulf Coast regional president.
Washington, D.C.-based Americans for Arts recently recognized PNC Financial Services Group as one of the 10 best companies supporting the arts in America in 2013.
The PNC Foundation actively supports organizations that provide services for the benefit of communities in which it has a significant presence. The foundation focuses its philanthropic mission on early childhood education and community and economic development, which includes the arts and culture. Through Grow Up Great, its signature cause that began in 2004, PNC has created a $350 million, multi-year initiative to help prepare children from birth to age five for success in school and life.
